Jennifer Estep interview and giveaway

If you are a regular follower of My keeper shelf you will know how much I absolutely love Jennifer Estep's YA series Mythos Academy so I was beyond excited when Jennifer agreed to answer a few questions for me.

What was the very first scene or character that came to you when you started writing the Mythos Academy series?

I would say one of the first ideas that popped into my head was the title, TOUCH OF FROST, and the image of Gwen touching something. I thought what if there was a girl who could touch any object and immediately know all about it? I thought that would be a cool idea/power to explore, so I started thinking more and more about it. That was sort of the beginning of TOUCH OF FROST and the rest of the Mythos Academy series.

Gwen loves her her comics and is often found wearing a Wonder Woman t-shirt if Gwen could be any superhero who would she be?

I think Gwen would want to be Wonder Woman because she’s such a strong, interesting character. Plus, Wonder Woman has a cool tiara and bracelets, plus an invisible jet. What’s not to like?

If your real life adolescence was a YA book, what would you, the main character be like?
I’d probably be a little like Gwen – someone who likes to read who is also quiet and stays in the background. But I could never be as brave or strong as she is, especially when she faces down Reapers of Chaos.

One of my favourite things about your blog is your book reviews, I love getting book recommendations from my favourite authors (Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh are also great for recommendations) what have you read recently that you could recommend to us and do you ever get book envy where you wish you had written a book you've loved?

Thanks. Glad you are enjoying the book reviews. Some of my favorite reads this year have been YA books, like The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and The False Princess by Eilis O’Neal.
I do get book envy, and some of my favorite books include Beauty by Robin McKinley, the Dortmunder series by Donald Westlake, and many more. Whenever I read a great book, I always hope that I can write something that elegant, clever, and witty someday.

If you had 2 hours of down time today would you read or write?
If I had two hours of free time, I might write a little on an idea for a new book. Or I’d probably dig into my TBR pile and read something fun.
Thank you so much to Jennifer for agreeing to come on the blog today. You can follow Jennifer on twitter, on facebook and at her fabulous blog (her book reviews are fab!).

In celebration of the recent publication of Kiss of Frost the second installment in the Mythos Academy series I have a copy of Touch of Frost and Kiss of Frost to giveaway to one lucky follower.

All you need to do is fill in the rafflecopter thingy below.
