New books and other stuff

Hi everyone, I hope you had a good Christmas!
Here's what books I got this week:
I won a signed copy of Blade Song by J.C. Daniels aka Shiloh Walker from Goodreads First Reads, and look! it's signed! Arrrggghhhh!! It now has pride of place in my real keeper shelf, you can check out my review here. I've already pre-ordered the sequel Night Blade and counting down the days to the 4th of March.

From my Secret Santa (Kayleigh @ K-Books) I got Rescue My Heart by Jill Shalvis. I love a good Jill Shalvis romance and it's got a dog on the cover so I'm guaranteed to love it.

Other stuff
My lovely husband bought me a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas
(as well as my obligatory Beardie Collie Calender which is full of cute Beardies that look perfectly groomed. I like to show it to my Beardied Collie Harry especially after he's been to the park and comes back covered in mud, just to let him see what we should aspire to. Oh, and Maltesers yum.

This is Harry.
What I've noticed about the Kindle Fire HD
It's bright, like too bright and I can't figure out how to tone it down. I'm now having to read with the Sepia (brownish) colour mode. Like I'm an old lady. Secondly, it needs charged every night, my old kindle got charged about once a month, granted I've been faffing about with it loads but still! Finally, it could be really lethal for your bank balance as games and books, etc are all very accessible.
One thing is bugging me, I would like to move the books I've read into a folder or something, I don't want to delete them off the device but I can't work out how to do it so if anyone knows give me a shout!
Plans for 2013
As the end of the year approaches I've been thinking about my plans for 2013. I signed up for a few challenges at the start of 2012 and failed every single one of them miserably so I've decided I won't join any official 2013 challenges and will just set my own (and probably change them half way through the year)
Clear my Kindle
Clear my shelves
Catch up on my series
I've created new shelves on Goodreads to monitor my progress and I might do that progress bar thingy that I've seen around the blogosphere if I can figure out how to do it.
I've got a gorgeous blog makeover planned for early January, it's going to be all simple and pretty. I've got a couple of reviews planned and then I think I'm going to take a little blogging break in January to recharge the old blogging batteries.
Phew, end of ramble!

Top 10 books I’m looking forward to in 2013

I’ve been participating all this week in the Top 10 of 2012- A week of looking back… and looking forward hosted by Rachel at (Fikt)shun and some other fabulous bloggers.
Today's post is the Top 10 books I'm looking forward to in 2013.
I'm the queen of pre-orders, it's always much cheaper to order well in advance from The Book Depository and although I'm not too fussed about covers in series all being the same height and all that jazz, I do like to keep my favourite series on my real keeper shelf in series order.
All of the books I'm looking forward to the most in 2013 are either part of series that I love or are second books that I'm hoping are as amazing as the first instalment.
So here's just some of the books I'm desperate to read in 2013.

Ok, so my top 10 turned into my top 14 but there's so many good series out there and amazing authors that I honestly couldn't help myself!

What book are you most looking forward to in 2013?

Best book boyfriends of 2012

Hello again! I’m participating this week in the Top 10 of 2012- A week of looking back… and looking forward hosted by Rachel at (Fikt)shun and some other completely fabulous bloggers.
Today's post is my favourite book boyfriends of 2012. How can I possibly choose???? Honestly this has been agonisingly difficult to pick my top ten!
(Click on the title to see my book boyfriend posts with loads of yummy quotes that made me swoon).
I drooled over bad boy rocker Jake from The Mighty Storm he was deeeeeelish! I may have mentioned Frank from In Rides Trouble a few times this week he's the boss of Black Knights, Inc and I loved the "I'm in love with you but I can't quite admit it" bickering between him and the heroine Becky. James from Elle Aycart's More Than Meets the Ink was one of my all time favourite book boyfriends of 2012 he was honest, patient and hard working good guy. I loved him so much!

Braden from Samantha Young's On Dublin Street had that alpha male millionaire thing that I find soooo appealing. And I still can't believe that I feel in love with a guy called Neville (let's just keep the nickname City shall we?) but Ruthie Knox made me! About Last Night should be awarded extra swoon points for that alone.

I love a good sports related romance the heroes are always so very alpha male-ish. Cole from Playing to Win, Reid from Seducing Cinderella and Mark from Time Out were all so grrrrrrr!
Finally Raffe from Angelfall and Archer from Firelight were early 2012 favourite book boyfriends. I really wish Susan Ee could write faster though I need more Raffe in 2013!!
Gawwwwwd they're all so swoon worthy.

Best contemporary romance (with a hint of spice) books of 2012

I’m participating this week in the Top 10 of 2012- A week of looking back… and looking forward hosted by Rachel at (Fikt)shun and some other really fabulous bloggers.
2012 was the year that I fell in love with contemporary romance in a big way. Partly inspired by my love of Fifty Shades of Grey I went on to find so many other fabulous kindle bargains that left me drooling.
So here's my favourite drool worthy contemporary romance, with a little hint of spice, books of 2012.
(click on the title to see my review)

More Than Meets the Ink by Elle Aycart, Strangers by Barbara Elsborg and Time Out by Jill Shalvis were outright favourites of mine in 2012.

In Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker was my favourite of her completely fabulous Black Knights, Inc series. I actually only discovered Jill Shalvis's Lucky Harbour series after reading and loving Time Out I enjoyed them all but Forever and a Day was my favourite of the series. I also really loved Jennifer Probst's Marriage to a Billionaire series, the first book The Marriage Bargain really is romance at it's best.

Tiffany Reisz's The Angel is like nothing out there right now, I mean, how many authors can make you develop a crush on a sadistic priest? If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones was a last minute addition to my favourite contemps of 2012 I cannot wait for the next instalment. The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle satisfied my "I love books about bad boy rock stars" craving, I loved it to bits.

On Dublin Street by Samantha Young literally blew me away! I fell for Braden big time and loved the Scottish connection. I added Ruthie Knox to my author auto buy list after reading About Last Night. And finally, I loved, loved, loved the mature YA The Boys of Summer by C.J. Duggan it was soooo good (and a bargain!).

Tomorrow's post will be my favourite book boyfriends of 2012, and you KNOW how much I love a book boyfriend!

Best book covers of 2012

Merry Christmas everybody! I hope Santa has been good to you!
I’m participating this week in the Top 10 of 2012- A week of looking back… and looking forward hosted by Rachel at (Fikt)shun and some other fabulous bloggers.
Today's post is my top 10 book covers of 2012.
Compiling this post made me realise that I definitely judge a book by it's cover and I'm more likely to pick up a book with some naked man chest on the front or a girl with a pretty dress. So I'm shallow and superficial and I'm not afraid to admit it!
Here's some of my favourite covers of 2012
Jaci Buton has the best covers EVER! I have a postcard of Playing to Win and have been know to gazed at it for long periods of time. I've loved all of the Brazen Entangled Publishing covers they're so distinctive but Seducing Cinderella is probably my favourite.
The two books Elle Aycart published this year were A-MAZ-ING  I can't choose my favourite so I picked both.

Pretty dress alert!
I loved the Angel's Flight cover it's even inspired the colours of my new book makeover coming to a screen near you in January! I loved Everneath and it's gorgeous cover and I'm ashamed to say I bought For Darkness Shows the Stars because of the cover and I STILL haven't read it yet!

Back to some naked man chest.
I discovered my fondness for romances with rock stars in them hence The Mighty Storm cover yum! More Than Meets the Ink has naked man chest and tattoos what more could a girl want?
I loved the UK cover of The Iron Duke, it's one of my all time favourite books and the re-release prompted a much deserved re-read.

Finally, the Sacrificial Magic is exactly what I pictured the heroine Chess like when reading the Downside Ghosts series. I love her tattoos.
Are any of these your favourites?
