I have a guest post from the lovely Devin O'Branagan today to tell us a little bit about her new book Pretty Sacrifices the second book in her trilogy The Legend of Glory.
The Legend of Glory #2
Publication date: 1st July 2012
In my Legend of Glory urban fantasy trilogy, there are witches, angels, and vampires. Among my fans, the most popular of these have been the witches. The appeal? I worked enormously hard to portray them realistically. Because of their popularity, I chose to give the young witch Kaia Moonstone a much larger role in Pretty Sacrifices than she had in the first book of the series. Half of the novel is told from her unique perspective.
Living in a small cottage high in the Colorado Rockies, Kaia’s life is all about service to Mother Earth and Her children. Extremely gifted, Kaia can communicate with animals, control the weather, is a clairvoyant and a demon-fighter. Only eighteen years old, she is all about the job. When her coven conspires with its sister coven to arrange a marriage between her and one of their own—a hunky CNN reporter (and witch) named Evan—she rebels not only because of the medieval concept of an arranged marriage, but because she is afraid if she allows romance into her life it will compromise her work.
Whereas Kaia is a country witch, Evan is pure city witch. Living in
Rory is a spunky twelve-year-old witch and psychic from Evan’s coven. Totally great at what she does, when she sees Kaia’s imminent death it’s accepted by everyone that nothing will be able prevent it.
In Pretty Sacrifices, Kaia, Evan, and Rory take on a dangerous mission that they are certain will result in Kaia’s death. However, as dedicated witches their duty lies in serving the Goddess...whatever the ultimate cost.
