I'd heard great things about Stung but was a little wary about reading the book as the concept seemed a little familiar - young girl fighting for her life in a world where she is living on the wrong side of the wall. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this novel as it really goes above and beyond the familiar plot line.

Fiona was meant to save society from a deadly disease. Now she is hunted like the violent beast she is deemed to be. Fighting for survival is her only option. I really loved Fiona - she wouldn't take no as an answer. Waking up in her house with devastation all around her, she doesn't know what has happened but she wants to know. Finding herself on the wrong side of the wall, she will stop at nothing to get inside those walls and get an explanation.

At times, she was a little irritating - waking up thinking she was still 13 means she often acted that way and did some things that didn't entirely make sense such as obsessing over her captors features whilst he was asleep rather than making a run for it - as any sane adult would do.

I loved her and Bowen together - on paper, he is her enemy but she soon finds his affection for her since before the outbreak still remains and he will do whatever he can to save her. It proves the saying that you don't know what you have until its right under your nose...before the outbreak, Fiona would spend hours dreaming of Bowen's brother when in reality, Bowen would always be the one for her.

I was baffled as to how she had lasted so long as a level 10 outside of the wall without being found - granted, she was unconscious but surely she would still be found? I didn't see the ending coming and the explanation really shocked me - it was very clever. Definitely recommend this book, a great read. 5 out of 5.
